[All Charges Withdrawn] R v. A.W.A.: Surveillance Footage Contradicts Serious Allegations

A.W.A met the complainant online. The two then decided to check into a hotel and had consensual sex. Once the complainant woke up, she reported to police that A.W.A. had drugged her; called another three males to the hotel room and forced group sex on her. A.W.A. was subsequently charged with the following offences:

  1. Sexual Assault – 271 of the Criminal Code
  2. Administer Noxious Substance / Drug – 246(b) of the Criminal Code

Jake reviewed hours of hotel surveillance videos and confirmed that at no point did three males entered and exited the complainant’s room. Further, through Jake’s investigation, it was uncovered that the complainant had a criminal record with many entries, including lying to the police in the past.

As a result, the Crown decided to withdraw all charges against A.W.A.
